"The presence of press and media organs, which can comprehend the developments in our country, our region and the world and adopt the principle of informing the public in an objective manner, is an important element of the formation of a healthy public and thus the complete functioning of our democracy. In this respect, we believe that all media institutions and employees ranging from local to national ones perform a critical function," said Fahrettin Altun.
Pointing out that the internet journalism and social media, besides the printed and visual media, started to play an important role in terms of informing the public in parallel with rapid developments in technology, Altun went on to say: "This technological process, which enables the news to be shared with public faster and makes the whole world accessible, also allows the rapid spread of disinformation and fabricated news. Our principled and objective media employees, who are aware of the importance of nurturing the society with accurate and real information, is an important force in the fight against disinformation and fabricated news. I believe that the members of the press will continue to contribute to the development and progress of our country and continue to work by upholding the protection of our unity and solidarity above everything by taking full account of their responsibilities from now on as well."
"On the occasion of the Working Journalists’ Day, I wish success for all my journalist friends, and as the Directorate of Communications, I would like to underline once more that we will always support them," he concluded.
