Assassinations against Chechens continue

The assassination of Zelimhan Hangoshvili, one of the leaders of Georgian Chechens who was murdered on his way to a mosque in Berlin has added another to the killings against Chechens.

Zelimhan Hangoshvili, who was attacked by a person on his way to a mosque in the German capital Berlin, was martyred.

The investigation following the assassination revealed that the killer had been apprehended by German police a few hours after the incident.

Chechen commander Zelimhan Hangoshvili, 41, served as commander in the war against the Russians in the North Caucasus since 2001. Later, he served as the official representative of Chechens in the South Caucasus and in Georgia.

He was previously known to have been forced to travel to Germany after assassination attempts were made against him in Georgia and Ukraine.
