At least 30 mine workers died as a result of the collapse of the gold mine in northern Afghanistan, 20 other workers were injured.
The landslide took place in Badakhshan province of Afghanistan. Many mine workers reportedly trapped under the mud after the landslide that occurred in a gold mine.The victims were villagers who were mining for gold illegally, according to the official.
The teams reached the lifeless body of 30 mining workers, while 20 workers were injured and removed under the soil rubble.
While the wounded were taken to various hospitals to be treated, those who lost their lives were taken to the morgue.
Sanaullah Rohani, spokesman for the police chief in Badakhshan, said 30 people lost their lives while 20 others injured and added that seven of the injured were in critical condition. According to Rohani, there were about 50 people illegally looking for gold at the time of the landslide.
