Aytaç Baran, who was killed by the PKK's armed attack in Diyarbakır province of southeastern Turkey on June 9, 2015, was commemorated with mercy and gratitude by his family and loved ones on the anniversary of his martyrdom.
The commemoration event organized by the Martyrs Caravan Platform in Yeniköy cemetery, in Diyarbakır, a southeastern province of Turkey, began with the recitation of Surah al-Yasin from the Holy Qur'an and continued with the speech of Ömer Çelik, the head of the Martyrs Caravan Platform.
“Throughout history, whenever Muslims have been immersed in World life if the Islamic cause has been ignored, if they have focused on goals related to the world rather than the hereafter, Allah has determined a kind of direction for them by acquiring martyrs from groups that are on the right path in the communities He loves. This has always been the case throughout history,” Çelik said.
Çelik continued as follows: “As you know, the Muslims suffered a serious blow in the Battle of Uhud. Our Prophet (PBUH) was wounded, and the companions were martyred. So, in Uhud, the Muslims were upset. But Allah forgave them and comforted them. Allah said, ‘Do not be discouraged or grieved. You alone will have true dignity if you only are true believers. If you have been struck by some misfortune, so they (the disbelievers) too have been struck earlier with the same misfortune; these are the days in which We have allotted turns to people; and so that Allah may make known the believers and may bestow martyrdom to some of you; and Allah does not befriend the unjust.’ The cause of Islam stands with the martyrs, they are the fuel of the cause. If the martyrdom has stopped in an Islamic community, it means that Allah has withdrawn his help from that community. But if there is martyrdom in An Islamic community, the help of Allah is on this community.”
After Ömer Çelik’s speech, Recai Güler, a member of İTTİHADÜL ULEMA also spoke at the event, telling the participants about the moral beauty of Aytaç Baran.
