Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami leader Maulana Abdus Subhan dies in prison

The so-called International Crimes Tribunal sentenced Subhan to death for alleged crimes against humanity and genocide during the Liberation War in 1971 on February 18, 2015.

Maulana Abdus Subhan died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Friday noon.

"Innalillahi wa inna ilaihi rajiun (Indeed, to God we belong and to God we shall return). Detained Nayeb-e-Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former lawmaker Maulana Abdus Subhan died at one pm today while going treatment in Dhaka Medical College Hospital. May Allah accept our leaders as Shaheed (Martyr). May Allah accept all his noble deeds and bless him with Jannah. Ameen," read the statement posted on Jamaat-e-Islami's website on Friday.
