Binali Yıldırım elected as Turkish parliamentary speaker

AK Party İzmir Deputy Binali Yıldırım was elected as the speaker of the Parliament by 335 votes.

Parliamentary Speaker Selection was made in the Parliamentary General Assembly on Thursday. In the third round of the votes, AK Party İzmir Deputy Binali Yıldırım was elected as the speaker of Turkish parliament with 335 votes.

In the first round, 581 deputies voted. Accordingly, the AK Party's candidate, supported by the MHP Binali Yıldırım received 331 votes.   CHP candidate Erdoğan Toprak was second with 134 votes, HDP Siirt Deputy Meral Danış Beştaş 65, IYI Party Istanbul deputy Hayrettin Nuhoğlu 43, Saadet Party Istanbul deputy Cihangir Islam 4 votes. First   4 votes in rounds were considered invalid.

In the first round, two-thirds of the total number of members could not be reached, and a second round was carried out. In the second round, Binali Yıldırım won 336, CHP candidate Erdoğan Toprak received 131 votes.

In the second round, two-thirds of the total number of members could not be provided and the third round was made.

In the third round of the election, AK Party Izmir Deputy Binali Yıldırım took the majority of votes and elected the Speaker of the Parliament with 335 votes.

Yıldırım then made a thank-you talk.
