Strikes and demonstrations, organized by railway, aviation, garbage, and energy sector employees and students in France, called "Black Tuesday", began.
The workers of the French Railway Company (SNCF), which constitute the main artery of the strike, oppose the reformation that redefines the statutes of the machinists. The unions will go on strike for 36 days until June 28, with a new strike model to be carried out for 2 days a week for 3 months.
With the strike wave of railroads, cleaning workers, pilots, energy workers and students, the unions want the ruling party to step back from reform through parliament.
Participation in the first day of the strike was 77 percent, transportation in the country was almost paralyzed. On the other hand, Air France employees, who demanded a 6 percent increase in their wages, announced that they would go on the strike on 7, 10 and 11 April.
