Car blast kills 3 in Turkey's Reyhanlı

At least 3 people died in an explosion in a vehicle in Hatay's Reyhanlı district, near Turkey border with Syria said provincial governorate office.

The explosion reportedly took place at around 13: 00 local time near Reyhanlı district governorate office on Mehmet Akif Ersoy Street while the reason is yet unknown.

Numerous health and fire crews were dispatched to the area. The car, which had returned to a ball of flame due to the explosion, was put out by the intervention of fire crews.

At least 3 people in the car were announced dead while an investigation into the cause of the explosion is underway.

Speaking about the explosion that rocked Reyhanlı on Friday, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said initial investigations indicate that the blast could be terror-related.

"According to initial results, this incident is related to terrorism. There was likely a bomb there [in the car]. My Interior Minister informed me that 3 people who died inside the car were Syrians," Erdoğan told reporters.
