Çavuşoğlu: We expect Russia to stop Syrian regime

Turkey expects Russia to put pressure on Syrian regime to stop military operations in Idlib, the country’s rebel-held province, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Çavuşoğlu said on Thursday.

Çavuşoğlu said that Turkey would continue working with Russia to solve the problems facing them, adding that Turkey would continue to respond to any attacks by the Syrian regime troops.

On February 3, at least 7 Turkish soldiers were killed and 9 injured when Syrian regime artillery fire targeted Turkish surveillance point in Idlib province of northern Syria.

Retaliatory fire from Turkey army killed at least 13 Syrian government soldiers, the local sources reported.
