After more than six hours of talks in Moscow, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan agreed on the ceasefire to halt fighting in northern Syria that has already caused a humanitarian disaster.
Regime and Russian jets have halted aerial operations over Idlib since the ceasefire agreement came into effect.
On 5 March 2020 a top level meeting took place between Turkish President Erdogan and the Russian President Putin, a ceasefire was agreed to take place since March 6 and a 6 km safe zone to be established along the M4 Highway, the agreement also considered joint Turkish - Russian patrols along the highway since March 15, 2020.
