The scholars and educators, who pointed to the negative consequences of coeducation on student achievement and moral structures, said the mixed education system is the product of an ideological imposition.
While developed and high success rates countries do not prefer to have a mixed education model, many European countries are looking for ways to get rid of coeducation system.

"We are all aware of the fact that mixed education in many European countries has been found to be harmful to the education system and the mixed education is being abandoned. Unfortunately, despite the fact that mixed education has been proved to be negatively affected by the success of students and moral structures, our country still insist on the coeducational system. Coeducation has not been established as a result of academic success in any period of history. However, it has always been an ideologically imposed system, which is still not abandoned by the system in spite of its negative impact on the psychologist, morality, and achievement of the student," Şimşed said.
Mulla Besir Şimşek also pointed out that the harms of the coeducation has also scientifically been determined, emphasized that the success rate in the schools where there is no mixed education is getting higher.
"It has psychological and pathological negative effects"
Since the Republican Period Co-education is being implemented as a requirement of the constitutional provisions in Turkiye, said educator Mehmet Nuri Çelik. Çelik emphasized that coeducation leads to very negative effects on student achievement in terms of scientific, psychological and pathological.
"We are witnessing that girls are more successful, more relaxed and free, especially in the educational settings where there is no mixed education and there is a separate education for girls and boys," he added.
Drawing attention to the recent years that they have seen especially successful students in imam hatip high schools and some vocational high schools, Çelik said, "Especially after a certain age that the biological changes take place in students, body needs of the young people in puberty age are much more advantageous in this sense in a separated educational system, in term of physical and cognitive situations."
"Coeducation is an imposition to spoil the society"
Saying that the mixed education has spoiled the society in a big way, Çelik mentioned the necessity of giving up this system as soon as possible.
"Today we see that mixed education has not necessarily been applied in developed and successful countries, it is a practice that Western states are imposing on us and it is a great spoil to the society. This system should be abandoned as soon as possible. The education system should be moved to a place where students can be educated in a more comfortable environment. Constitutional materials need to be changed in order to remove coeducation."
Çelik also noted that parents in Eastern and Southeastern regions of Turkiye prefer imam hatip high school due to giving separate education.
