Confidence index decreases in services and construction sectors in Turkey

Confidence index decreased in services and construction sectors while remained unchanged in retail trade sector, Turkish Statistical Institute said in a statement on Tuesday.

According to the statement, seasonally adjusted confidence index decreased by 2.8% in services sector and 5.7% in construction sector in November compared to the previous month while remained unchanged at the same level in retail trade sector.

Services confidence index realized as 77.5

Seasonally adjusted confidence index which was 79.7 for services in October decreased by 2.8% in November to 77.5. In services sector compared to the previous month, business situation over past three months sub-index decreased by 2.8% to 74.8. Demand-turnover over past three months sub-index decreased by 3.9% to 71.9 and demand-turnover expectation over next three months sub-index decreased by 1.7% to 85.8.

Retail trade confidence index remained unchanged at 95.0

Seasonally adjusted retail trade confidence index remained unchanged at the same level 95.0 in November. In retail trade sector compared to the previous month, business activity-sales over past three months sub-index decreased by 1.5% to 85.3. Current volume of stock sub-index increased by 1.4% to 109.1 and business activity-sales expectation over next three months sub-index decreased by 0.3% to 90.6.

Construction confidence index realized as 79.0

Seasonally adjusted construction confidence index which was 83.8 in previous month decreased by 5.7% in November to 79.0. In construction sector compared to the previous month, current overall order books sub-index became 62.6 by decreasing 10.3%. Total employment expectation over next three months sub-index decreased by 2.5% to 95.4.

In construction sector, 67.2% of the enterprises indicated at least one factor limiting their activities while 32.8% of the enterprises indicated none in November. Among the main factors limiting activities in construction sector; "financial constraints" which was 42.4% in October realized as 42.7% in November, "insufficient demand" which was 30.2% in October realized as 34.2% in November and "other factors" which was 16.2% in October realized as 15.3% in November.
