At least 22 dead has been reported, including 15 Egyptian troops and 7 of armed groups in the clash erupted between the Egyptian army and armed groups in the north of the Sinai Peninsula of Egypt.
The conflict took place in the region close to the Gaza Strip. It was claimed that the conflict began when armed groups attacked the soldiers of the Egyptian army. Until now, no one has claimed the responsibility of the attack.
Egyptian army spokesman Tamer el-Refai wrote on his social media account that 15 soldiers and an officer were killed or wounded, adding that the army responded by killing seven militants of armed groups. The attack reportedly took place about dawn.
The Egyptian army launched a comprehensive operation in the region.
