Coronavirus pandemic under control in Turkey, Health Minister says

After 8 weeks of coronavirus confinement measures, even a risky day could change the picture, warned Wednesday Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca as Turkey began to loosen COVID-19 restrictions.

“Our number of patients recovering has reached 70 per cent of our total number of patients. Of our 141,475 patients, 98,889 have so far recovered,” Koca said.

He stated that filiation teams, whose numbers stood at 6,239, have reached 722 thousand people who have had contact with any patient.

“We have seen a steady recovery from the fifth week of the outbreak. Under current circumstances, the outbreak is under control,” he added.

As of 13 May 2020, the total number of confirmed total cases in the country is over 143,100 of which 101,715 have recovered and 3,952 have died.
