Court rules imprisonment for Demirtaş and Önder

Former HDP Co-Chair Selahattin Demirtas and former HDP Ankara deputy Sir Süreyya Önder were sentenced to imprisonment for "making propaganda for the terrorist organization".

Istanbul 26th High Criminal Court sentenced former HDP Co-Chairman Selahattin Demirtaş to 4 years 8 months and former HDP Ankara deputy Sırrı Süreyya Önder for 3 years and 6 months imprisonment for "making propaganda for the terrorist organization".

Selahattin Demirtaş was connected with SEGBİS [sound and vision information technology system] from Edirne Prison while Sırrı Süreyya was present at the Silivri Prison Campus No 1 hearing hall.

The court rejected the procedural objections of Demirtaş and his lawyers.

At the end of the hearing, the court sentenced Selahattin Demirtaş for 4 years and 8 months and defendant Sırrı Süreyya Önder to 3 years and 6 months imprisonment for "making propaganda for the terrorist organization".
