Çukurova Airport to open in 2022, Turkish Infrastructure minister says

Turkey’s Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu said that 92,3 Percent of Çukurova Airport construction had been completed.

“Within the scope of our project; We are building a parallel taxiway of the same length as the runway of 3500 meters long. We also envisage 30 high-speed taxiways of 4 meters each and the same length and number of connection taxiways. Along with the apron of 1000 meters by 243 meters, we are also building a special aircraft apron measuring 464 x 120 meters,” Karaismailoğlu said.

“The cargo terminal apron of our airport will be 252 × 243 meters in size. While two ground services vehicle parks are being built, guard boxes and perimeter security road will be constructed together with the perimeter fence of the project,” Karaismailoğlu added.

He also noted that the construction of the airport would be completed in 2022.

Çukurova Regional Airport is an airport under construction in the Tarsus district of Mersin Province, southern Turkey.

It will serve the provinces Mersin and Adana as well as the rest of the Çukurova Region, which includes the historical Cilicia of antiquity. (ILKHA)
