Death toll from coronavirus surpasses 75,000 in the United States

At least 2,231 people have died from coronavirus in the past 24 hours, rising the United States death toll from the virus to 75,662, according to Johns Hopkins University.

1,257,023 people have until now tested positive for coronavirus in the country, an increase of 28,420 new cases in the past 24 hours.

Until now, 217,251 patients suffering from the pandemic have recovered and been discharged from hospital in the country.

The U.S. has the highest death toll from coronavirus in the world, followed by Italy and Spain.

New York, which is being hit the hardest by the novel coronavirus in the U.S, has so far reported more than 337,421 confirmed cases, with at least 26,365 deaths.

According to Worldometer, a reference website that provides counters and real-time statistics for diverse topics, coronavirus pandemic has so far claimed the lives of at least 270,770 people across the world.
