Death toll from train fire in Pakistan reaches 65

The fire was caused by an explosion of gas stove, used for cooking food. Eyewitnesses said that three carriages were destroyed completely.

The death toll from the train fire in Pakistan's north-eastern Punjab province has risen reached 65, while many others have been injured on Thursday.The train was travelling from Karachi in the country's south to Rawalpindi when it became engulfed in flames.

Railways Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmad says the fire took place Thursday when some of the passengers were preparing breakfast on the speeding train.

Many people saved their lives by jumping off the train, the minister said.

Investigation into the incident is underway.
