Dozens of tons of drugs seized in 8 months

At least 48 tons of cannabis, 11 tons of 983 kilograms of heroin and other drugs were seized within the last 8 months in the operations carried out by Turkish police and military forces.

Turkiye's Interior Ministry has announced its first 8 months of 2018 the overall balance of operations for the poison dealer.

According to the statement made by the Ministry, about 2 tons of heroin were seized in Turkiye in the last month after the operations carried out by the police and military forces.

14 thousand 964 people arrested

The amount of heroin seized in August 2018 increased by 426 percent compared to the previous month said Interior Ministry. According to the report, at least 132,710 people were detained in the 94,853 operations carried out in the first 8 months of the year. 14,964 people arrested in the first 8 months of detainees.

Compared to the same period last year, the number of operations increased as 27 percent, the number of custody increased by 25, and the number of arrests increased by 8 percent. At least 103,257 people were taken into custody in 72,662 operations carried out within 8 months in the last year, 13,853 of them were arrested.

This year, compared to the previous year, the number of operations increased by 27 percent, the amount of heroin seized rate increased approximately by 53 percent.

The amount of heroin seized in the first 8 months of the year was 11 tons and 983 kilograms, an increase of about 53 percent over the same period last year. Also in August this year, about 2 tons of cannabis, 2 tons of heroin and one ton of cocaine were seized while the amount of heroin increased by 426 percent compared to the previous month.

In the first 8 months of 2018, 48 tons of marijuana were seized.
