Earthquake hits Hawaii close to eruption volcano

After the Kilauea volcano has been spewing lava, a magnitude 6.9 earthquake hits Hawaii, a state of the US.

Thousands of people were evacuated in the region because of the Kilauea Volcano, which has been operating in the US' Hawaii state. Tremors of the earthquake hit Hawaii this time after the volcano.

According to the US Geological Survey (USGS), the epicenter of magnitude 6.9 earthquake was located 17.7 kilometers southwest of Leilani Estates. The earthquake was recorded as five kilometers deep.

The earthquake, which hits at 22.30 local time, was recorded as the largest earthquake after the 7.3 strong magnitudes in 1975.

The Kilauea Volcano began to spew lava on Friday in Hawaii. The activity of the volcano is thought to be caused by a large number of tremors in the region.

Thousands of people were evacuated from the area due to the volcano. Unmanned aerial images show cracks on the road in the region and lava flows from here. It is stated that the lava that erupts from the cracks reached 46 meters high. (ILKHA)
