Erdoğan continues phone diplomacy over Idlib crisis

Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has spoken to several foreign leaders on the phone, discussing the developments in Idlib and other regional issues as well as bilateral relations.

Erdoğan held phone conversations with Russian President Putin, Hungarian Prime Minister Orban, President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, Bulgarian Prime Minister Borissov, German Chancellor Merkel and US President Trump.

Developments in Idlib, Syrian issue, the humanitarian crisis caused by it in all aspects and other regional issues as well as bilateral relations were discussed during the conversations.

President Erdoğan reminded during the conversations that due response was given to the perpetrators of the attack targeting gallant Turkish soldiers, and reconfirmed Turkey’s determination to cleanse the area designated by Sochi Memorandum of regime elements.

Syrian airstrikes killed 33 Turkish soldiers and injured 32 others in Idlib, northern Syria, on Friday.

Turkey's military killed dozens of Syrian regime troops, destroying several tanks in retaliation for the attack.
