Erdoğan and his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev first visited Azerbaijan’s national leader Heydar Aliyev’s mausoleum.
Afterwards, the two leaders proceeded to the martyrs’ memorial. After laying a wreath at the memorial, President Erdoğan and President Aliyev signed the Book of Honor, marking the solidarity between two countries and the liberation of Azerbaijani lands from Armenian occupation following a 44-day-long glorious fight.
Erdoğan is in Baku for an official visit at the invitation of President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan to join nationwide celebrations marking Azerbaijan’s decisive military victory against Armenia in their conflict for control of disputed Nagorno-Karabakh.
