Exports increased in September while imports decreased: Turkstat

In September, exports increased by 22.4 percent while imports decreased by 18.3 percent in Turkiye, announced Turkstat on Wednesday.

According to Turkstat's September 2018 data, exports increased by 22.4 percent and imports decreased by 18.3 percent in Turkiye.

According to the provisional data, produced with the cooperation of the Turkish Statistical Institute and the Ministry of Trade, in September 2018; exports were 14 billion 456 million dollars with a 22.4%  increase and imports were 16 billion 326 million dollars with an 18.3% decrease compared with September 2017.Foreign trade deficit decreased by 77.1% In September 2018 foreign trade deficit was 1 billion 869 million dollars with a 77.1% decrease compared with September 2017.In September 2018, exports coverage imports were 88.5% while it was 59.1% in September 2017.Seasonally and calendar adjusted exports increased by 1.3%

Seasonally and calendar adjusted exports increased by 1.3% while imports decreased by 3.9% compared with the previous month. Calendar adjusted exports increased by 16.3% while imports decreased by 22.8% compared with September 2017.

Exports to the European Union  increased by 24.4%As compared with the same month of the previous year, exports to the EU-28  increased by 24.4% from 5 billion 888 million dollars to 7 billion 322 million dollars. The proportion of the EU countries was 50.6% in September 2018 while it was 49.9% in September 2017.The main partner for exports was GermanyIn September 2018, the main partner country for exports was Germany with 1 billion 421 million dollars. The country was followed by the United Kingdom with 1 billion 56 million dollars, Italy with 816 million dollars and Iraq with 719 million dollars.The top country for imports was RussiaIn September 2018, the top country for Turkey’s imports was Russia with 1 billion 721 million dollars. The country was followed by China with 1 billion 510 million dollars, Germany with 1 billion 413 million dollars and the USA with 1 billion 107 million dollars.

The ratio of exports of high-tech products in manufacturing industries was 3.2%Foreign trade by technology intensity covers the manufacturing industries’ products in the classification of ISIC Rev.3. According to the ISIC Rev.3, the ratio of manufacturing industries products in total exports was 94.4% in September. The ratio of high-technology products in manufacturing industries was 3.2%. The ratio of medium-high-technology products in manufacturing industries’ products was 35.2%.The ratio of imports of high-tech products in manufacturing industries was 13.1% The ratio of manufacturing industries’ products in total imports was 78%. The ratio of high-technology products in manufacturing industries’ products was 13.1% in September 2018. The ratio of medium-high-technology products in manufacturing industries’ products was 40.5%.
