In its evaluation related to the extradition of an Egyptian engineer Mohamed AbdElhafeez Ahmed Hussein, who was sentenced to death in his country, last month from Istanbul Ataturk Airport to coupist Sisi administration, HUDA PAR said that this incident deeply wounded the conscience of society and caused social concern for subsequent processes.
Although Ahmad Hussein repeatedly expressed that, he is a member of the Muslim Brotherhood [Ikhwan al Muslimeen] and that he had been sentenced to death in Egypt and asked for political asylum, his demand was not accepted and he was handed over to the coupist administration of Egypt on January 18.
"Turkiye, which has developed strategies in recent years with the idea of becoming a regional power, should avoid from such practices that could cause Turkiye to be perceived as an 'entrusted country' in the international arena," HUDA PAR said also noted that many people such as Uyghur, Kirghiz, Chechen people were extradited previously.
"The extradition of the Ikhwan member to Egypt is contrary to international law and legislation"
Drawing attention to the fact that many people were extradited to their country before under the pretext of "terror" link, HUDA PAR recalled that Muhammed AbdElhafeez Ahmed Hussein, a member of the Muslim Brotherhood, was detained at the Istanbul Atatürk Airport, which he was there for transit pass and extradited to the state of Egypt where he was sentenced to death despite his application for asylum.
"This incident, which was openly against international law and legislation, deeply injured the conscience of the community and caused social concern for the subsequent processes," said HUDA PAR.
The statement reminded that the universal principles of law do not accept the extradition of persons to countries known to be subjected to torture, ill-treatment and death penalty, while added that Turkiye also is a party to these principles.
"Many people and families from Uighur, Kyrgyz, and Chechnya have been extradited to their countries under the name of suspicion of terrorism, while they have been missing or unheard," the statement added.
"These rights should not be sacrificed to regional balances, economic, political and strategic interests"
The statement reads that while Turkiye is said to be a safe haven by many oppressed and victims, it needs to be able to host its guests in such a way as to ensure the safety of life, property, religion, mind, and generation.
HUDA PAR called on relevant rulers that the right given to people by God should not be sacrificed to regional balances, economic, political and strategic interests.
"This is the natural consequence of being human and Islamic understanding. Similar situations that do not correspond to the ancient cultures, beliefs, traditions and historical backgrounds of the people living in this country deeply wound the conscience of humanity," HUDA PAR underlined.
