Gaza extends curfew after 36 new infections reported

The Gaza Strip Ministry of Interior on Saturday evening announced that the coronavirus curfew will be extended for 48 hours after new infections were detected in the enclave.

The Ministry of Health announced in a press conference that 36 coronavirus cases have been recorded in the Gaza Strip in the past 24 hours after 1004 tests were conducted.

Ashraf al-Qedra, spokesman for the Ministry of Health, said that the total number of infections in the Gaza Strip since March has increased to 257, 182 of which are active cases.

Spokesman for the Ministry of Interior Eyad al-Bozom said in a press conference that the Gaza Strip provinces will be completely separated and movement prohibited, especially in the northern areas.

Al-Bozom called on Palestinian citizens to follow the safety measures announced by the government and warned that legal procedures will be taken against those who violate the lockdown orders.
