The crossing will remain open in both directions for four days to allow Palestinians to enter and exit the blockaded enclave, the ministry said in a statement.
Sisi’s administration has closed the crossing since the coronavirus pandemic in March 2020, however, it reopens the gate from time to time to allow Palestinians to go into and out of Gaza Strip.
The Rafah Border Crossing or Rafah Crossing Point is the sole crossing point between Egypt and the Gaza Strip. It is located on the Gaza–Egypt border, which was recognized by the 1979 Egypt–the Zionist regime treaty.
The original crossing point was named Rafah land port. The only passage of persons takes place through the Rafah Border Crossing. The traffic of goods is mostly diverted to the Kerem Shalom border crossing.
