About five months after the general elections in Germany, members of the Social Democratic Party approved the formation of a major coalition with the Christian Union parties (CDU / CSU).
The Social Democratic Party (SPD) announced at the press conference in Berlin that the majority of the party members who participated in the coalition agreement were using the "yes" vote.
"The SPD will take part in the Bundestag," Olaf Scholz, deputy chairman of the SPD said after the results were announced.
Merkel is expected to be elected prime minister for the fourth time on March 14, with SPD members ratifying the coalition agreement.
The "CDU/CSU-SPD" government in Germany, which has been called the "grand coalition", is in power since 2013.
