HAMAS said that the escalation of settlement activity in the Holy City and the displacement of Palestinians from their homes in the neighborhoods adjacent to the Al-Aqsa Mosque is part of a “Zionist” settlement scheme aimed at changing the Palestinian Arab and Islamic identity of the holy city.
The Movement praised the people’s steadfastness in Jerusalem and hailed the people of the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood who confront “Zionist terrorism”.
It called on Jerusalemites and Palestinians of the 1948 occupied territories to intensify their presence at Al-Aqsa Mosque and at the homes threatened with demolition.
HAMAS denounced the absence of any reaction by the Arab and Islamic regimes towards the new displacement plans implemented by the Israeli occupation against Palestinians in Jerusalem.
The Movement called on the Arab League, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and Arab and Islamic parliaments to shoulder their responsibilities and to place Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque on the top of their priorities and provide all types of support for it.
It also called on the European Union and the international community to put pressure on the Israeli occupation government to reverse the plans of displacement and demolition in the neighborhoods of Jerusalem.
