Haniyeh praised Turkey's efforts in support of the Palestinian cause in the Security Council and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation summit.
Turkiye and Algeria had proposed a draft resolution to the UN, which had been adopted with the approval of 120 countries to provide international protection to the Palestinian civilians in the Gaza Strip.
In a statement released by his office, Haniyeh affirmed that the Great March of Return will continue until its goals are achieved, mainly breaking the siege.
The Hamas leader expressed his gratitude over Erdoğan's decision to transfer some of the Palestinians injured in the Great March of Return protests to Turkish hospitals for treatment.
For his part, president Erdoğan congratulated the Palestinian people in general and the people of the Gaza Strip in particular on Eid al-Fitr and affirmed that Turkiye will spare no effort to support their cause.
He said that Turkiye would make every possible effort in all international forums to draw international attention back to the Palestinian cause and put an end to the injustice the Palestinians are exposed to.
In another phone call with Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, Haniyeh hailed Qatar for its incessant political and humanitarian support for the Palestinian people.
Both leaders discussed the latest developments related to the Great March of Return including the recent UN General Assembly resolution. (ILKHA)
