The Syrian Human Rights Observatory (SOHR) claimed that the Syrian regime attacked Saraqib city of Idlib province with chlorine gas on Sunday.
Five people were treated for "suffocation" on Sunday after Syrian regime airstrikes on the northwestern town of Saraqeb, a monitor said, as reported by AFP.
British Financial Times also said that at least 9 people were affected by chlorine gas attack on the surrounding areas of the Idlib.
Al Jazeera said on Friday that Idlib city was attacked 35-times on Saturday and 68-times on Sunday, following the opposition groups shot down a Russian warplane.
During the week, US accused the Syrian regime of using chemical weapons on opposition forces near Damascus.
The Syrian Foreign Ministry described the allegations as "lies".
Last month, 21 people were treated for difficult breathing due to the launching of a rocket into East Guta, where controls by opponents.
According to Anadolu News Agency, Health Minister of the Syrian Interim Government Mohammed Firas al-Jundi stated that 7 civilians, including children affected by chlorine gas attack, carried out by Assad regime. Also noted that those affected by the gas were treated at health centers in the region.
Despite the Idlib declared as de-escalation zone, attacks were intensified said Idlib Civil Defense Teams (White Helmets) Chief, Mustafa Hajj Yusuf. Yusuf stated that Idlib's Seraqib, Kenfrenbil, Han Seyhun and Marretinnuman districts and Tel Merdih, Al Gedefe, Al Tuh, and Masaran villages were under heavy bombardment on Sunday. Yusuf added that eight people lost their lives in the chlorine gas attack on the Kenfrenbil district and Masaran village, at least 40 people injured.
As search and rescue operations continue in the region, the number of dead is increasing. In January alone, 211 civilians were killed and 1,447 wounded in Idlib, where declared as de-escalation zone, according to Anadolu News Agency.
