India warns citizens against travelling to Iraq amid rising tensions

After Iran launched missile attacks on US-led forces in Iraq, India's Foreign Ministry released a travel warning on Wednesday, urging its citizens to avoid "non-essential" travel to Iraq.

"In view of the prevailing situation in Iraq, Indian nationals are advised to avoid all non-essential travel to Iraq until further notification," the statement said.

Iran's missile attack came in retaliation for a US drone strike on an Iranian commander Qasem Soleimani. The Iranian commander's killing has sparked fears of a war in the Middle East.
