Turkiye's Treasury and Finance Minister Berat Albayrak said in his speech evaluating the developments in the economy that the priority is to fight inflation and interest rates. "From October, inflation will fall down," he added.
Minister Albayrak emphasized on the independence of the Central Bank, saying, "The Central Bank took the necessary steps in monetary policy in the fight against inflation and gave the message that it would take new steps in the direction of tightening it when needed. Now the most important issue on the financial side is the fight against inflation, we will announce on 20 September that the OVP, which is our 3-year business plan."
Speaking on the independence debates on Turkish Central Bank, Albayrak said, "There is no reality and no controversy in the discussions on this subject, it is very clear that this kind of speculation and debate will not be against the global markets," he said after the Central Bank's interest rate decision ended the discussions on the bank's independence.
