Iran has reported 93 new deaths from coronavirus pandemic, taking the country’s death toll to 5,574, according to Kianoush Jahanpour.
The number of confirmed coronavirus cases has risen to 88,194, an increase of 1,168 cases in the past 24 hours.
Some 3,121 patients are being treated in intensive care units and 66,596 patients suffering from the novel coronavirus have recovered and been discharged from hospitals so far, Jahanpour said.
Until now, 399,927 tests for the virus have been conducted in the country.
Iran reported its first confirmed cases of COVID-19 infections on 19 February 2020 in Qom.
Iran has the seventh-highest number of COVID-19 deaths after the United States, Italy, Spain, France, the United Kingdom and Belgium, and the eighth-highest number of COVID-19 cases in the world.
The coronavirus pandemic, which was first identified in Wuhan, China, and was declared a pandemic by WHO on March 11, has until now infected 2,744,606 people, killing at least 191,790 across the world.
