Iran airlifts its citizens from China

Iran transferred on Wednesday dozens of students from the Chinese city of Wuhan, the epicenter of a coronavirus outbreak.

An Iranian plane belonging to Mahan Airlines left Tehran with a group of infectious disease doctors and special emergency response medics early Tuesday in order to bring back home the Iranian students living in the quarantined city.

They will be quarantined for 14 days in a special hospital in Tehran.

The virus was first detected in Wuhan city, Central China, in December 2019. It is believed to have originated from wild animals, passing to humans due to the wildlife trade and wet markets. The virus spread to other China provinces in early and mid-January 2020, helped by the Chinese new year migration.

Cases have been detected in other countries, carried by international traveler. Those countries are as follows:

Thailand, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, the United States, Singapore, France, Nepal, Vietnam, Australia, Malaysia, Canada, Cambodia, Germany  Finland, Sri Lanka, the United Arab Emirates, India, Italy and Philippines, the United Kingdom, Russia, Sweden and Spain.
