Iran reports 7,719 daily confirmed cases of COVID-19

434 more people have died of coronavirus in the past 24 hours, the highest daily toll since the pandemic broke out in Iran in February, the Health Ministry Spokeswoman Sima Lari said in her daily press conference on Sunday.

The number of deaths due to the virus has reached 35,298 in the country, Lari noted.

After 7,719 more people tested positive for coronavirus in the past 24 hours, the number of infections has risen to 620,491 in the country.

There are at least 5,244 people in intensive care units, Lari said, adding that, of those tested positive for the virus, more than 486,691 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospital.

So far, at least 4,965,326 tests have been taken across the country to detect infected cases, said the Health Ministry spokeswoman.

According to Worldometer, which is a reference website that provides counters and real-time statistics for diverse topics, the global death toll from coronavirus has surpassed 1,202,367 with 46,525,161 cases and more than 33,577,266 recoveries.
