Iran wants to be a mediator to resolve Turkey-Syria differences over Idlib

As one of the guarantors of the Astana process, Iran is ready to resolve the current Syrian and Turkish conflicts in Idlib, said Majid Takht-Ravanchi, Iran's Ambassador to the United Nations during a session on situation on Thursday.

"The situation in this region is grave and efforts should be made to prevent the crisis not going out of control," he said.

He emphasized that while the fight against terrorists must continue, this should be done with the utmost protection for civilians.

He also called for the implementation of the Sochi Agreement on Idlib.

On February 3, at least 7 Turkish soldiers were killed and 9 injured when Syrian regime artillery fire targeted Turkish surveillance point in Idlib province of northern Syria.
