Iran’s death toll from coronavirus rises to 9,185

2,612 new cases of coronavirus were reported over the past 24 hours in Iran, increasing the total number of infections in the country to 195,051, the Health Ministry Spokeswoman Sima Lari said in her daily press conference on Wednesday.

120 coronavirus patients lost their lives in the past 24 hours, bringing the total death toll to 9,185, she added.

There are at least 2,789 people in intensive care, Lari said, adding that, of those tested positive for the virus, 154,812 have recovered and been discharged from hospital.

So far, 1,319,920 tests have been taken across the country to detect infected cases, said the Health Ministry spokeswoman.

Lari pointed out that Khuzestan, East Azarbaijan, Khorasan Razavi, Kermanshah, Hormozgan, and Kurdistan are in red conditions, urging Iranians to stick to health guidelines to contain the outbreak.

According to Worldometer, which is a reference website that provides counters and real-time statistics for diverse topics, the global death toll from coronavirus has surpassed 446,929 with 8,299,373 cases and more than 4,347,496 recoveries.
