Reminding that the US recognition of Jerusalem as israel’s capital had been opposed by most of the world, Altun said: "This plan tries to give Jerusalem to Israel. Jerusalem does not belong to israel and it is not up to the third parties to offer it to anyone!"
He underlined that declarations without the support, agreement and endorsement of both sides would only bring instability to the region, adding that unilateral actions by the U.S. and israel have already brought much bloodshed and tears to the region.
"Netanyahu is playing a political game for his personal political future. He is feeling the pressure at home. He is seeking political gain by irresponsibly using such a sensitive matter as peace," he noted.
He also slammed Some Gulf countries for supporting such a plan that has nothing to do with equity, fairness, and peace, warning that they would have to respond to the Arab and Muslim public opinion.
