Kazakhstan declares national mourning for blast victims

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev declared August 29 the National Mourning Day for the victims of the blasts that took place in Zhambyl region.

“I declare August 29 a National Day of Mourning in connection with the tragic deaths in Baizak district of Zhambyl region. The fallen servicemen and rescuers showed great courage and selflessness. The names of our men will always be remembered in the country,” Tokayev said.

On Thursday, at least 13 people were killed and more than others injured after a series of large explosions had ripped through a military warehouse in southern Kazakhstan.
