The size of the earthquake reported to be 9.17 kilometers deep was 5.1 magnitude.
The earthquake was also felt in surrounding areas. After the quake, some citizens went out on the streets.
About 20 people were injured in the district center and the villages
About 20 people were injured slightly in the district center and the villages when there were no casualties in the earthquake. Authorities have indicated that those who come to the hospital do not have a serious health problem.
In the Yavuz Selim neighborhood, there were about 200 sheep stuck in the basement of a 2-storey house. The AFAD teams worked hard to remove the sheep from where they were. It was seen that most of the animals were wasted during the work carried out by the work machines. Only a few animals were found to be alive. During the rescue work, there were also occasional tense moments.
After the quake, there were many aftershocks. At the time of the shock, 112 Emergency Service teams intervened to the panicking citizens.

The earthquake was felt in Diyarbakır, Gaziantep, Şanlıurfa, Hatay, Malatya and Osmaniye provinces, in some districts and villages while caused damages in some building.
Samsat, the epicenter of the quake, was also experienced earthquake on March 2, 2017, in the province of magnitude 5.5, which destroyed many structures. In the damage assessment studies, it was determined that 78 percent of the buildings in the district center and 69.5 percent in the villages were heavily damaged.
