Majority Bloc Coalition to be established in Iraq

After the great coalition with the participation of 16 parties in Iraq, the majority to establish the government was granted.

Following the parliamentary elections held on May 12 in Iraq, a large coalition of 16 party members and 177 deputies was formed as part of government-building efforts.

In the coalition, Shiite and Sunni Arabs, as well as Turkmens, Ezidis and Christian minorities took part. It was stated that some parties would later join the coalition.

Former Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki said at a press conference, "We have formed a large coalition called the 'Building Coalition', which will result in long negotiations."

The first session of the Iraqi Parliament, which consists of 329 seats, is expected to elect the Parliament Speaker by the votes of deputies.
