A commemoration program will be held for 11 peasants, who were martyred with the land-mine that the PKK laid under the Yıllarca [Gogwerî] village's road in 1994 in the Karacadrağ region in Turkiye's Diyarbakır.
Commenting on the program, Martyrs Caravan Platform Chairman Ömer Çelik said that 11 people, including children, were murdered brutally by the mine ambush 24 years ago because they did not bow to the PKK's persecution.
"People in this region suffered a lot by the persecution of PKK. They [the PKK] brutally murdered the people of the religious community who were not bow to them, who did not obey in their ideology. One of these brutal incidents took place in Gogwerî village of Karacadağ on March 10, 1994. On the morning of Laylat al-Qadr [one of the most valuable night in Islam], the village bus targeted by mine, carrying villages who were going to the city in preparation of 'Eid al-fitr'. This painful event caused 11 Muslims to be martyred, including children. About 40 villagers were injured," said Çelik. (ILKHA)
