The European Parliament adopted the draft resolution on the killing of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi. In the bill, the conditions for the murder of Khashoggi were defined as "crimes against humanity". The Parliament also denounced Saudi Arabia for murdering Khashoggi with torture.
"Systematic practices, such as extrajudicial executions, constitute a crime against humanity," said in the draft while it demanding an answer from Saudis to "explain whereabouts of the journalist's body."
The resolution called on the EU to prepare sanctions such as visa ban and freezing of property on Saudi citizens responsible for the killing of Khashoggi.
The draft also demanded the EU Council to adopt a common stance on the implementation of an arms embargo across the EU, noting that surveillance systems that can be used as a means of repression by Saudi government should be included.
