Military funeral held for soldiers killed in Turkey’s helicopter crash

Turkey has bidden farewell to 11 soldiers who were killed in a helicopter crash in eastern Bitlis province one day earlier.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the families of the deceased soldiers, top politicians and a large crowd attended the funeral ceremony held at Ankara’s Ahmet Hamdi Akseki Mosque for Lt. Gen. Osman Erbaş, Technical Sgt. Nazmi Yılmaz, Col. Şentürk Aydınyer, Cpt. Salih Sarıoğlu, Chief Master Sgt. Mehmet Demir, Master Sgt. Ömer Umulu, Cpt. Tayfun Kureş, Cpt. Gökhan Uysal, Staff Sgt. Şükrü Karadirek, Specialized Sgt. Tolga Demirci and Specialized Sgt. Hakan Gül, who were lost their lives in a military helicopter crash in the Tatvan district of Bitlis.

Extending his condolences to the families of the deceased soldiers, the Turkish Armed Forces, and the Turkish people, President Erdoğan wished Allah’s mercy upon all the martyrs and recited Surah Al-Fatiha from Holy Quran.
