Millions of voters to go to the polls on Sunday in Turkiye

57 million voters go to the polls for the general election of local governments in Turkiye on Sunday, March 31, 2019.One million 156 thousand voters will go to the ballot box for the first time in this election.

Turkiye goes to the polls this Sunday for general elections of local governments.

There are 57 million 58,636 voters in this election according to the statistics in the supreme electoral council while 1,156,000 voters over 18 will cast a ballot for the first time.

The number of women's voters is 28,929,732 people, consists of 50.7 percent of the voters, while the number of men's voters is 28,128,904 people with 49.3 percent.

There is a total of (Neighborhood 168,887, town 3,274, village 22,229) 194,390 ballot box while ballot boxes in prisons are not included.

Voting start and end times

In some provinces, the voting process starts at 07.00 and ends at 16.00, and in some provinces, the voting process starts at 08.00 and ends at 17.00 according to the time difference.

The provinces that can vote between 07.00 and 16.00 are; Adıyaman, Ağrı, Artvin, Bingöl, Bitlis, Diyarbakır, Elazig, Erzincan, Erzurum, Gaziantep, Giresun, Gümüshane, Hakkari, Kars, Malatya, Kahramanmaras, Mardin, Muş, Ordu, Rize, Siirt, Sivas, Trabzon, Tunceli, Şanlıurfa, Van, Bayburt, Batman, Şırnak, Ardahan, Iğdır and Kilis.

The remaining provinces will be able to use their votes between 08.00 and 17.00.

The votes to be used in metropolitan cities

In the metropolises, the voters will vote separately for the Mayor of the Metropolitan Municipality, Mayor, Municipal Council membership, Mukhtar office, and the Elderly Committee and put their ballot in one envelope.

Votes to be used in non-metropolitan cities

Voters in non-metropolitan cities will vote separately for the membership of the Provincial Assembly, Mayor, Municipality Council, Mukhtar, and Elderly Committee and put their ballot in a single envelope.

Number of voters of some metropolitan cities

According to the previous election, the number of voters in Istanbul increased by 558,707 to 10,560,963, while Ankara increased by 313,115 to 3,992,163 voters.

The number of Izmir voters reached 3,250,780 with an increase of 218,205 while Diyarbakır has 1,480,250 voters with an increase of 123,573.
