Ministry reports 69 new coronavirus cases in besieged Gaza

The Palestinian Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip on Monday morning said that 69 new coronavirus infections have been detected in the besieged enclave in the past 24 hours.

The total number of coronavirus cases since March has increased to 356, 280 of which are active, including 243 among the population and 37 among passengers who recently returned to Gaza from abroad and remained in quarantine.

So far four deaths have been recorded for patients who had already suffered from other health complications.

Eyad al-Bozom, spokesman for the Ministry of Interior in Gaza, on Sunday evening announced that the curfew will be extended in all provinces as part of measures to limit the spread of coronavirus.

He said that about 19,000 police and security officers have been deployed in the streets to make sure citizens are abiding by the lockdown orders.
