Sheikh Ahmed Al-Raysuni, the leader of the International Union of Muslim Scholars, made assessments on issues such as the Islamic world and the political situation of Muslims in a program he participated in Al Jazeera TV.
Raysuni said that the political scene is a tough road, that Islamic parties could easily become governments if the road was easy, and that people generally come into administration without experience.
Pointing to some rumors that Islamists have failed in the political field and that they must now step aside, Raysuni said these rumors deserve to be considered and contemplated on.
"It is also possible to benefit from these. However, with just that, things are not considered and treated," he said.
"First, the story of failure is a relative matter. It has many conditions surrounding it. In reality, it was not a failure in Egypt. Surely, that win was hampered by gun power to make it a failure. The true failure of the Islamists occurred only in Sudan on all its terms."
"Secondly, we cannot forget the experiences of Islamists in Turkey, Tunisia, Morocco, Malaysia, and Indonesia. These cannot be qualified by failure. Yes, every situation has its own characteristics. You can't tell anyone who fails in every job to repent to Allah. That happens, too, but make up for what you missed, learn from your failure and your loss."
"Then try again to win. However, in all cases, education, cause, and cultural work always retain the distinction of being the best."
Raysuni, who assessed the views of "scholars should stay away because of the dirty environment of the political arena", said Islamists in politics are technocrats; they are not preachers, sheikhs or clerics.
"But when it comes to the issues of cunning, pollution, entrapment, pragmatism and immorality, unfortunately, some Islamists have turned themselves into these evil aspects of politics and used them in their politics. But Islamists who resort to these methods are again deflated against their enemies. Their enemies still use these methods better than they do.
This is certainly an invalid weapon on the side of the Islamists. They have no way but to clear their hands and themselves from these methods.
Muslims can't win unless having full decency among themselves, in their ranks, in their partners, and in opposition. Allah ordered: "O you who have believed, be persistently standing firm for Allah, witnesses in justice, and do not let the hatred of a people prevent you from being just. Be just; that is nearer to righteousness. And fear Allah; indeed, Allah is Acquainted with what you do." [Al-Qur'an, Surah al-Maide - 8]
Raysuni pointed out to be strong, knowledgeable and vigilant against the tricks, patterns, and styles of enemies. "May Allah be pleased with him, as Umar Bin Khattab said, 'I am neither deceitful nor dupable.'
Therefore, Mughire, one of companion said about him, 'Umar Bin Khattab was too smart to be dupable and too virtuous to be deceived.' That is our principle. We will not be fooled or deceived. Let the one who unable to do so, leave."
