Turkish Ministry of Internal Affairs issued a statement about drug operations conducted in 2018.
Stating that the security forces achieved a historic record in counter-drug operations across the country in 2018, the interior ministry announced that the number of arrests and detainees in the operations conducted in 2018 and the amount of drugs seized broke the Republican era record.
In 2018, 147,562 drug operations were carried out, while 204,780 people were detained and 23,134 people were arrested said in the statement.
The statement also provided information that approximately 18 tons of heroin, 1,165 kilograms of cocaine, 8 million 556.529 ecstasy pills, 168 kilograms of bonsai were seized in 2018 in Turkiye.
