Turkish Statistical Institute [Turkstat] announced the housing sales statistics of 2018. Accordingly, 1,375,398 houses sales realized in Turkiye.
Giving information about house sales in Turkiye, Turkstat noted that house sales decreased by 2.4% in 2018 compared to the previous year.
For the house sales of 2018, İstanbul had the highest share of house sales with 17% and 234,055 sold house. The followers of Istanbul were Ankara with 131,161 house sales with 9.5% and İzmir 75,672 house sales with 5.5%.
The least house sold province is Hakkari, southeastern province of Turkiye, with 159 house sales.
In Turkiye, 276 820 of all sales were mortgaged sales and 1,098,578 are other house sales.
136,845 houses were sold in Turkiye in December 2018, In Turkiye, house sales increased by 2.9% in December 2018 compared to the same month of the previous year and hence, became 136,845.
For the house sales of December 2018, İstanbul had the highest share of house sales with 19.4% and 26,541 sold house.
The followers of İstanbul were Ankara with 12 095 house sales and İzmir 6,960 house sales with the share of 8.8% and 5.1% respectively.
The least house sold provinces were Ardahan with 13 house sales, Hakkari with 32 house sales and Bayburt with 48 house sales.7,148 ownership of the houses changed by mortgage sales in December 2018The mortgaged house sales throughout Turkiye became 7,148 by decreasing 79% compared to the same month of the previous year.
House sales with the mortgage had a 5.2% share of all house sales in Turkiye.
Most house sales with the mortgage were in İstanbul with 1 461 sales. İstanbul was the first province in Turkiye ranking that has most house sales with mortgage share with 20.4%. Mortgaged house sales had the highest share in Edirne with 12.7% of all house sales.Ownership of 129,697 houses changed by other salesOther house sales in Turkiye became 129 697 by increasing 31.1% compared to the same month of the previous year.
In the other sales, İstanbul was the first province with 25,080 sales and 19.3% share. Other house sales had a 94.5% share of all house sales in İstanbul. Ankara was the second province with 11,315 sales.
Ankara was followed by İzmir with 6 565 sales. The least other house sales were realized in Ardahan with 12 house sales.

First house sales had 51.1% share of all house sales in Turkiye. The most first house sales were in İstanbul with 13 723 sales. İstanbul was the first province in Turkiye ranking that had most first house sales share with 19.6%.
The followers of İstanbul were Ankara with 5,077 house sales and İzmir with 3,158 house sales.Ownership of 66,984 houses changed by second-hand salesSecond-hand house sales in Turkiye became 66,984 by increasing 1% compared to the same month of the previous year.
In the second-hand sales, İstanbul was the first province again with 12,818 sales and 19.1% share. The share of the second-hand sales was 48.3% in İstanbul in total house sales.
Ankara was the second province with 7 018 sales and Ankara was followed by İzmir with 3 802 sales.In Turkiye, 39,663 houses were sold to foreigners in 2018House sales to foreigners increased by 78.4% in 2018 compared to the previous year.
In house sales to foreigners, İstanbul was the first province with 14,270 sales in 2018. Antalya was the second province with 7 938 sales. Antalya was followed by Bursa with 2 720 sales and Ankara with 2 133 sales.4,560 houses were sold to foreigners in December 2018. İstanbul was the first province with 2,170 sales in December 2018. The followers of İstanbul were Antalya with 744 house sales, Bursa with 252 house sales and Ankara with 251 house sales.Most house sales were made to Iraqi citizens according to country nationalitiesIraqi citizens bought 8,205 houses from Turkiye in 2018. The followers of Iraq were Iran with 3,652 house sales, Saudi Arabia with 2,718 house sales, Russia with 2,297 house sales and Kuwait with 2,199 house sales.In December, Iraqi citizens bought 897 houses in Turkiye. The followers of Iraq were Iran with 435 house sales, Saudi Arabia with 268 house sales and Russia with 257 house sales.In Turkiye, 790,006 men and 421,286 women became the owner of a house in 2018While 790,006 houses with share 57.4% were bought by men and 421 286 houses with share 30.6% were bought by women, 26 877 houses with share 2% were bought jointly by women and men in general of Turkiye.
İstanbul ranked the first in terms of the number of houses purchased by women with 65,166 and 15.5% share in Turkiye.
While men bought 128,221 houses in İstanbul, 5,726 houses were bought by men and women jointly.
The lowest number of houses sold to women was in Ardahan with 30 sales while Hakkari had the lowest number of houses sold to men with 112 sales.
