Political will should avoid racist rhetoric and practices: HUDA PAR

Issuing a message on the attack in Erbil that a Turkish diplomat was killed and on the racist attack in Trabzon against Kurdistani citizens, HUDA PAR warned that political will should avoid racist rhetoric and practices.

In the weekly internal and external agenda assessment, HUDA PAR headquarters evaluated topics such as Erbil attack that a Turkish diplomat was killed, the racist attack in Trabzon, the numerical data of the YKS [Higher Education Institutions Examination] and the evaluation and the rising electricity prices.

Erbil attack

Cotyar Adil, a spokesman for the Iraqi Kurdistan Region Administration, said the incident was a terror attack planned and targeted while a Turkish diplomat and 2 Iraqi citizens were killed in an armed attack on a restaurant in Erbil.

Evaluating that attack, HUDA PAR, "condemn this act of terrorism in which unarmed civilians are targeted in a public space".

Saying that the assassination was targeting to break the relationship that has developed after the independence referendum that held in Iraqi Kurdistan, and isolate the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government, HUDA PAR noted that the attack was aiming to protect the illegal presence of PKK in the region.

"In this process, where civilian people are placed on the target board and diplomatic gains are wanted to be sacrificed to chaos, the coordination between Turkey and the KRG and the common policies to be produced in favor of the peoples of Turkey, Kurdistan, will render the forces serving chaos dysfunctional and ineffective in the public eye," the statement.

"In this respect, it is very important that those responsible are exposed and punished."

The racist attack in Trabzon

HUDA PAR reacted to the arrest of people from Iraqi Kurdistan instead of racist attackers, while a group of tourists from Iraqi Kurdistan, including women and children was beaten when they were trying to take a commemorative photo with their Kurdistan-inscribed scarves in Uzungöl region, in Çaykara, district of Trabzon, a northeastern province of Turkey.

"Firstly, we strongly condemn both this racist attack and the cases of detention and deportation," HUDA PAR said.

Calling on authorities, HUDA PAR underlined that the first thing to do was to condemn this racist attack by political will and civil servants. "Instead, however, a more grave attitude has been preferred than an attack; such as detention and deportation."

HUDA PAR noted that the KRG is a legal administration whose status, name and flag are recognized by the whole world, especially by Baghdad central administration and Turkey. "It is one of the most important export markets of Turkey."

"The political will should emphasize the brotherhood of peoples at every opportunity and avoid racist rhetoric and practices," the statement said, adding further that the society has been filled enough to be prepared to lynchpin a nationality even on the smallest such matters.

"'The others' was formed by rasping of fraternity law. 'All Kurds are terrorists' perception is the main goal that some focus in Turkey wants to create by cooperating with the PKK. This is the biggest cause of this community unrest."

It is essential that the political authority, which must cure this fragile and sensitive structure in society, should be aware of its responsibilities and pay attention to its rhetoric, language, and actions.

It is known that the Islamic Society has built civilizations throughout history with all their colors, languages, nationalities, and no such cases have been experienced. In this sense, Turkish society should follow this civilization along with all its hardships and restore the law of brotherhood in the society. Therefore, all kinds of racist attitudes, acts and discourses should be punished.

YKS numerical data and evaluation

Assessment Selection and Placement Center (OSYM) announced the numerical data for the 2019 Higher Education Institutions exam (YKS).

According to this, the best performance in the basic proficiency test (TYT) was seen in the Turkish language and the lowest in science.

In the field proficiency testing (AYT), the highest averages were seen in geography tests. Candidates failed to answer correctly even one of 10 questions in physics, chemistry, and biology.

On the AYT math test, about 88 percent of questions failed to be answered correctly. 14,971 candidates got zero grade in the TYT exam where 2,390,491 candidates entered.

HUDA PAR drew attention that the success rates in education declined with each passing year after the data revealed in the 2019 Higher Education Institutions exam.

The economic crisis continues to deepen with each passing day, however, it is not possible to understand the insensitivity of the management of the economy, the statement said.

"In addition to this, the ongoing hike waves are signed horrifying figures." Departure fees exceeded 350 percent, increased from 15 Turkish Liras to 50 TL.

Telephone fees brought in from abroad were increased from 170 TL to 500 TL in 2018. In 2019, it was raised to 618 TL first, and finally to 1500 TL.

"Besides these, electricity hikes have become one of the most important problems of Turkey today, HUDA PAR said, adding that Organized Industrial Zones, the centers of the manufacturing and industrial sector, have faced very severe problems due to high electricity prices.

Underlining that electricity price rise means that costs rise, HUDA PAR noted that slowing industry cogs, falling employment and rising unemployment that is directly linked to costs.

"A recent 15 percent hike in electricity has caused a deadlock in the sector, with rates exceeding 100 percent in a year."
